-          Daily pre-work start inspection shall be carried out by the operator and certified by the area foreman.

-          Ensure all equipment & tools are inspected by a trained person

-          Operators & drivers have a valid driving license

-          Follow daily / weekly checklist for equipment & tools.

 

-          All identified underground utilities as per on Existing As-Built Drawing issued from the Client/Consultant shall be marked.

-          A cable Detector shall be used before manual digging to locate underground utilities such as electrical cables.

-          Trial pit Excavation permit shall have been obtained before work commencement (if required trial pit for underground services)

-          Trial Pits will be carried out manually to expose and identify all underground services.

-          Only hand shovel and pick axe will be used for trail pit manual excavation

-          No machinery is allowed to excavate Trial Pit under any circumstances

-          All existing services will be covered, supported, and protected following the related authorities’ instructions in the NOC.

-          Identify and secure all existing structures which will be affected by excavation works

-          Check and ensure the area of work is free from hazardous

-          Report immediately for the identified utility or underground services.

 

-          Make proper steps access for pedestrian workers in the excavation

-          Make proper slope access for vehicle movement in the excavation area

-          Only approved aluminum ladders are to be used as means of access and egress in the trench of excavation

-          Make separate access for vehicle movement away from the pedestrian access.

 

 

-          Deploy banks man/ Flagman to control the movement of the vehicles, equipment

-          Banks man wearing a reflective jacket to be provided

-          No one worker working nearby the excavator

-          The Excavator operator shall be trained & experienced

-          Auto alarm system in excavator during moving of boom

-          Always moving up position boom of the excavator

-          Make separate access for vehicle movement away from the pedestrian access.

-          Proper barricading shall be placed and Traffic control, Caution, and Awareness signboards shall be placed for each excavation area

-          Flashlights shall provide for the barricading for ease of identification during the night times

-          Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided (i.e. Safety Shoes, Coverall, Safety Helmet, and Reflective vest.

-          All vehicles have shall reverse alarm and revolving warning light.

 

 

-          The excavation area should be marked as per as building drawing

-          Barricade the area with adequate barriers and place safety sign boards

-          Excavated material shall be kept a minimum of 2 meters, Away from the edge of the trench

-          The trench shall be kept safe and stabilized by providing sloping/benching

-          All excavation works will be supervised by a competent supervisor.

-          Proper housekeeping will be maintained on-site at all times to ensure that all pathways and edges of excavation are clear of any potential falling objects or obstructions.

-          The area Should be clean and tidy

-          Tools and equipment do not keep or stacked on the access /egress

-          Barricaded area

-          Display safety signage

 

-          Use a dust mask

-          Water showering and avoid dust
